After Ragnarok, a dragon named Albateus awoke from his slumber. He took the form of the human Strahd von Zarovich, the half-demon Schalke Schwart. He used his incredible intellect and arts to become the god-king once again, uniting the Old Gods, the mortals, and the dragons into his unified empire. Albateus created the Oblodgan as a servant race of the Old Gods, and their mortal children, the Nidalese, as his slaves. Albateus ruled over the land for twenty-five years before disappearing once again, without having to be slain as in the story. He remains, however, a threat for the future, waiting for Ragnarok and granting his blessings to any worthy.[3]

They're called Paragons for a reason, and they're the most powerful dragons in the world. Their powers are tied to the world souls in their essence, and their power can be increased by collecting world souls. The world souls are found all over the world, although they are depleted by every act of magic, enchanting and killing, and they can be restored by enchanting materials found in dungeons or by friendly dragons (those that let the player transmute them). From the best sources, over 6 billion world souls can be found, making the Paragons nearly invincible. To obtain the skills of the Paragons, the player needs to enter the Gate of the World, located in The Dragonsreach ruin of the -3000 year old Jagged Crown from which the Paragons hail.

The Paragons got there remnants of magic that can be used to create a dragon statue, the "Dragon Soul", which they can begin worshiping and raising as their own avatar, to aid them in combat. They also have the chance to grant a "Demise", giving the dragon a stronger attack that renders itself immune to magic for a short time. The benefits of these Quests are limited, but useful nonetheless. Additionally, the players can raise a Paragon with the Dragon Soul, by changing it to another Paragon. This can be done by leaving the Paragon alive, buying it from the shop with ethereal currency, or by being granted a Divine Avatar. d2c66b5586
